The Govt. College Dhaliara was established in 1973. The apart from other subjects the Sanskrit has also been taught in this college since 1973. There is one sanctioned post of teaching faculty in the department of Sanskrit in this college. There are about twenty seven hundred (2700) students enrolled in this college. Out of which 50 students are studying Sanskrit as their major subject. Every year department of Sanskrit organizes Shloka Vaachan, Kavya Paath and vaagvayavhaar competitions in order to promote Sanskrit as a mother language.

SWOC analysis of the department and future plans:

Strength: Coordination among administration, staff members and students.

Weaknesses: insufficiency of faculty members, books and space.

Opportunity: As a language Sanskrit is appreciated worldwide. This language is very much useful for computer applications also. In view of the local demand there is great opportunity as a honors subject.

Challenges: Insufficiency of faculty members, lack of interests on the part of students to study Sanskrit as a main subject.
